A hearing blogger Melow Meldrew's video "George Bush on Deaf" is a sick joke and disgusting.
The story covers for all information events which recent reports made by public to the communities. The video is a sick joke and plain stupid, we ever seen on the social media in the Deaf community. The video shows of George Bush's speech with subtitling which been added by Melow Meldrew also known as deaf-hater blogger attherimmm (ATR) from Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom.
Note: cannot embed youtube video that is disabled to this site. Pretty sure he made it look like shit on purpose to add to the comedy-humor subtitling called "George Bush on Deaf.read" who served as the 43rd President of the United States speeches all about deaf-bashing and support the AG Bell association. However, Deaf community does not find a funny but just plain stupid. Guess this old Brit man is simply ignorant and made bad substiting as well.

Deaf Basketball Player Heads To Nationals
VIDEO [CC] - 8-year-old basketball star Zeke Ortiz says being Deaf has no limits.
NBC FREDERICK, MD - Ask 8-year-old Zeke Ortiz what he wants to be when he grows up, and he'll answer without hesitation - a pro basketball player.
Zeke has been playing since he was a 2-year-old, but he decided earlier this year it was time to step up his game. That meant leaving his YMCA league to join a more competitive team - the Playmakers.
"The team I'm with now is a challenge," Zeke said. "It's tough for me." But it wasn't the skill set or the level of competition that was the biggest hurdle in making the change for Zeke. It was the fact that none of his new teammates knew how to sign.
Zeke, his 10-year-old brother Zion, their parents, grandparents and nine cousins are all Deaf - and this was Zeke's first time playing a sport with hearing teammates.
"He's lucky that he was born into a family of Deaf people and to have Deaf parents, so he'd had full access to communication since birth," his mom, Jennifer Yost Ortiz, said.
Zeke, who attends a Deaf school, had always been able to communicate with his family and peers. When he joined the Playmakers, his parents say that for the first time, he felt lost.
"Everybody was talking," Zeke said. "I didn't know what they were saying or what to do. Nobody was interpreting for me."
"At the very beginning, the first practice, Zeke kept looking at me saying, 'I don't understand,' Ortiz said. "And we said, 'It's okay, just watch.'"
Without an interpreter, it was like a guessing game. Zeke couldn't do the little things, like hear a whistle blow or a call being made.
His father, a former basketball player, picked up on the coach's signals and was able to interpret plays and drills... Read more: nbcnews.com/nightly-news/how-deaf-8-year-old-boy-overcame-his-fears-play

The Internet Opens A Window To The Deaf World
VIDEO: The internet opens a window to the Deaf world: Lydia Callis.
Huffington Post - While mainstream media still struggles to integrate diversity into programming, the internet offers a vastly different experience. People around the globe, of all backgrounds and abilities, are uploading original new content every day, smashing boring stereotypes and changing the way we view different cultures. With a larger number of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people sharing their opinions, ideas, and even their jokes, wider audiences are opening up to the real experience of deafness and Deaf communication.
Thanks to the web, the lines between Deaf and Hearing entertainment are beginning to blur. Because it is so easy to add captioning now, Deaf video creators are sharing their blogs, their art, and their lives with audiences who they may not have been able to reach in the past. By making their videos accessible, Deaf people have the opportunity to frame their own experiences and creatively express themselves without being filtered by hearing editors and producers.
DeafNation, founded in 2003, is home to some of the most diverse Deaf video content on the web. DeafNation's DN360 is an ongoing news-style program which discusses health, current events, and conducts interviews with Deaf community members. Note: DeafNation does not provide to share the video.

Deaf Pregnant Woman Sues Florida Hospital
EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Deaf woman suing for interpeter in delivery room.
WPTV BOYNTON BEACH - Margaret Weiss is due to have her second child in less than a month. The Boynton Beach mother is Deaf and wants a real life interpreter in the delivery room with her, but she says her hospital is refusing to provide that.
"They're discriminating against me," explained Weiss, with the help of a certified sign language interpreter. She explained the fear she has about going into the delivery room at Bethesda Hospital. "It's really serious. What if there was something life-threatening that happened during the delivery?" said Weiss.
Weiss has filed a lawsuit against Bethesda for denying her request for a live interpreter to be in the room with her. The hospital provides the hearing impaired with VRIs or Video Remote Interpreting.
Weiss says this is not effective communication for a woman giving birth and ultimately a violation of the Americans Disabilities Act.
"No one can sit there in labor and just watch a fixed screen," said Weiss. "You can't do that. It's much better to have a live interpreter that's mobile and can move around. It's a lot more comfortable. They can lean over. They can get in a different spot." Weiss says on top that, in her experience, the VRIs do not work all the time.
Weiss said she had to go to Boca Raton to deliver her first daughter in order to have a live interpreter... Read more: wptv.com/news/region-s-palm-beach-county/boynton-beach/hearing-impaired-pregnant-woman-sues-hospital-wants-interpreter

Deaf Man Becomes Incredible Finger 'Dancer'
VIRAL VIDEO - Deaf Russian dancer Andrei Dragunov translates his sign language skills into some impressive finger tutting.
You would think this dancer may have difficulties in his profession given that he is Deaf - but he is letting his fingers do the dancing.
Russian mover Andrei Dragunov, 24, has perfected the art of “finger tutting”, which involves the movement of fingers to create shapes in a unique form of dance, having started when he was 15.
This visually stunning and impressive form of dance can be seen as an innovative way for Andrei, from St Petersburg, to get around his hearing problems. He said: “My hands do not rest; I am always working to come up with something new.
This Deaf Russian dancer doesn’t need to hear music to create incredible body movements. Just check out his finger tutting skills. Surely being fluent in sign language would help develop this skill!

College Humor: Canadian Rap Diss Music Video
VIDEO [CC] - If Canadians made a rap diss video, we hope it's not this embarrassing.
Huffingtonpost - In College Humor's (and that's humor without the "u") funny attempt to recreate a so-called Canadian rap diss video, what you're left with is almost two and a half minutes of maple syrup, age-old stereotypes and a lot of apologizing. And hey, we get it we're kind people who love to say "sorry," eat flapjacks and brag about our healthcare, but seriously, are we that predictable?
But in all earnestness, we are impressed with some of the rhymes, the very Canadian backdrop, the rappers' outfits, and let's just say we definitely have things we're grateful for from our American cousins down below.
We do have one suggestion though: maybe next time if we're in the need of a good rapper and an equally good diss, we would just give Drake a call? Source

ASL Terp: Stop Calling Sign Language 'Cool'
Deaf News: Let’s talk (or sign!) about the Deaf, not hearing interpreters.
Lexicon Valley - As is consistent with the written and culturally accepted standard, “Deaf” is used to refer to a community, while “deaf” is used to refer to a physiological state of being.
A few days ago, a good friend and fellow linguaphile posted a video on my Facebook wall of Shelby Mitchusson, a hearing American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter translating Eminem’s anthemic “Lose Yourself,” signing with dramatic facial expression and full body motion as she attempts to convey the essence of Slim Shady. The video now has more than 3 million views.
In the fall of 2013, Amber Galloway Gallego became a YouTube sensation after video of her signing a Kendrick Lamar concert also garnered millions of views. Countless articles (here, here, here, and here, to cite a few) lauded Gallego's signing as “epic” and called her “a true inspiration.” Of course, what she’s doing is a service to the Deaf community. Music is something that all people, regardless of their hearing status, should be able to appreciate and understand, and to convey the rhythm and spirit of Kendrick Lamar into a form of expression the Deaf and Hard of Hearing can process is inherently valuable. Mitchusson and Gallego went viral because their videos are not simply a detached interpretation. They're excitingly interpretive.
But what are we really doing when we label ASL with words like "epic" or "cool"? We are exoticizing and trivializing it. ASL (and all sign languages--remember, there isn’t just one!) is a language every bit as much as English, with its own rules of grammar, its own syntax, morphology, phonology, and semantics. It is not “cool” or “interesting” or “awesome," but rather a practical and evolving way of communicating that deserves as much respect as any spoken language. To share a video of someone signing with the caption “look how cool this is!” perpetuates the misconception that sign languages are somehow different, a kind of sideshow novelty at which to marvel... Implants, Signing Let Deaf Kids Be Bilingual
Deaf News: Implants, signing let Deaf kids be bilingual: Research experts.
Reuters Health - Parents of Deaf children face a critical responsibility to learn and use sign language, according to a majority of hearing experts quoted in the journal Pediatrics, although the question of whether or not to sign has grown increasingly controversial.
Ten thousand infants are born yearly in the U.S. with sensorineural deafness, and data suggest that half receive cochlear implants, small devices that help provide a sense of sound to profoundly Deaf individuals.
While some specialists advise that all Deaf children, with or without cochlear implants, learn sign language, others fear that learning sign language will interfere with the demanding rehabilitation needed to maximize the cochlear device. Still others worry that asking parents to learn a new language quickly is too burdensome.
In an “Ethics Rounds” feature in Pediatrics, nine experts from hearing and language-associated fields share their perspectives and conclude, “The benefits of learning sign language clearly outweigh the risks. For parents and families who are willing and able, this approach seems clearly preferable to an approach that focuses solely on oral communication," in which the child would depend only on the cochlear device or other auditory-verbal approaches.
John Lantos, a professor of pediatrics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, writes in the journal, “The more languages they learn, the better these children will be able to communicate.”
Lantos told Reuters Health that too many children who receive cochlear implants fail to achieve full functionality in the hearing world. “If the idea is to give kids the most potential to communicate in the most ways that they can, it seems like learning both is the best approach.”
Linguist Donna Jo Napoli contributed one of the most urgent arguments for full adoption of sign language. “Children should be surrounded by sign language as much as possible as soon as the audiological status is determined," she told Reuters Health. "If the child gets a cochlear implant and does well with it, fantastic. Then the child is bi-lingual... Read more reuters.com/article/2015/06/15/us-deafness-signing-kids

'The Tribe' Became 2015's Most Intense Film
VIDEO: Rolling Stone - How sign language thriller 'The Tribe' became 2015's most intense film.
RollingStone - Inside story on Ukrainian drama about gangs in a school for the Deaf that's left audiences speechless. It was only 100 feet away, but it may as well have been another universe. As a child growing up in Ukraine, filmmaker Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy would walk to his classes every morning and observe the students who attended the school for the Deaf across the street. As his classmates socialized with each other, the director would watch the other children from afar, fascinated by the sight of dozens of kids silently signing with each other.
"This way of communication looked like a miracle," Slaboshpytskiy says, calling from his home in Kiev. "People were directly exchanging feelings and emotions without words and it really impressed me."
The 40-year-old filmmaker channeled those vivid memories into The Tribe, his brutal, bewildering debut feature centered on a Ukrainian Boarding School for the Deaf, in a tale told entirely through sign language. The unique, unflinching thriller focuses on the school's teenage gang members who rob, rape and murder under the tutelage of a corrupt woodshop teacher. After one of the students - a pimp who oversees two teenage prostitutes from the school - is killed, new kid on campus Sergey (Grigoriy Fesenko) takes his place; problems arise when he falls in love with Anna (Yana Novikova), one of the escorts. (Coming full circle, Slaboshpytskiy used his actual elementary school as the film's main location.)
With no subtitles, translations or voiceovers to guide viewers, the film - which opens June 17 in New York - unravels like a puzzle, as certain plot points, stripped of initial comprehension, only reveal themselves in subsequent scenes...
