Deaf Can Coffee - The Jamaica Coffee Shop

VIDEO [CC] - The Caribbean coffee shop, what is Deaf Can! Coffee all about?

KINGSTON -- A video capturing the purpose and vision of Deaf Can! Coffee, a not-for-profit coffee shop seeking to engage, equip and empower Deaf youth. We exist to encourage Deaf youth to believe in their talents and abilities, engage their passions and interests and foster creative, positive thought in a healthy community that builds each other up and enables them to dream. We will accomplish this through a sustainable coffee venture known for a memorable experience, great product and talented staff.

What began as a small idea of packaging and selling coffee for a rural, Deaf coffee farmer grew as word spread and people wanted more. However, one farmer could not meet the demand and so we considered options to increase the supply of roasted coffee. From there we began roasting coffee at the Kingston campus of Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf in an effort to train and expose teen students to the art of coffee roasting.

The challenges of sourcing dry beans and getting licensed in Jamaica as a coffee brand soon became a barrier that we thought might stop the initiative completely. The vision, however, simply shifted from being all about roasting coffee to a focus on brewing the coffee as well and creating a completely new experience for the marketplace. Boycott Wells Fargo Ad 'Learning Sign Language'

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Franklin Graham calls for Christian boycott of Wells Fargo for featuing lesbian moms, who learns American Sign Language their advertiser.

CHARLOTTE - The Rev. Franklin Graham is changing which bank his organizations will use because he objects to a lesbian couple and their Deaf daughter who appears in a Wells Fargo ad.

Graham is calling on Christians to boycott corporations that promote homosexuality, and says he will do his part by moving all of his ministries' money out of Wells Fargo.

Graham says he is not targeting companies that hire or serve gay and lesbian customers because that's a part of doing business. But he said he wants Christians to stop giving their money to businesses that use their advertising dollars to promote homosexuality. Graham is the CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse.

He says one way Christians can speak out is by not doing business with those who he says promote sin and stand against God's laws.

A spokesperson for Wells Fargo says the bank has proudly supported the LGBT community for a long time and the advertisement reflects the company's values.

The Charlotte Observer reports that accounts for Graham’s ministries could total in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Graham says he plans to publicize a list of companies that feature same-sex couples in their advertising.

A spokesman for North Carolina-based BB&T, a statewide LGBT rights group based in Raleigh said Graham is on the losing side of moral history. Source

In recent months, businesses as diverse as Nikon, Cheerios and Hotwire have featured gay couples in commercials.

Now it’s Wells Fargo’s turn. The US bank is rolling out seven adverts as part of a new brand push under the banner ‘Why I Work’.

The first, revealed last week, is called ‘Learning Sign Language’. It features a female couple who are both learning sign language. The reason why? They’re about to become the new, adoptive mommies to a little girl with impaired hearing.

Glide - Video Messaging In The Deaf Community

VIDEO [CC/Signed] - #YourGlideStory: Next generation video messaging in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

#YourGlideStory - Over the past few months, you've let us know that Glide is the best way to communicate visually, and we're extremely grateful to all of our users in the Deaf/HoH community for their continued support.

Glide is a video messenger that allows you to send and receive video messages that can be seen live (as you're recording) or later (like a text message).

There are already loads of great video chat apps out there. We're not trying to replace them, we are giving people a more convenient way to keep in touch through video that doesn't need scheduling. Traditional video chat requires you and your friends to be online at the same time, which isn't always possible. The great thing about Glide is that you can send or watch a message whenever you want, regardless of whether your friends are online.

Glide is a private messaging service. Only friends in the chat you send a message to will see it. You and your friends can also share messages from Glide to social networks and friends outside the app. Sending messages to Glide users anywhere in the world is 100% free.

Keep up with Glide:

Deaf Web-Sites AdBlock Controversy

Raise awareness of the impact AdBlock has on Web-sites's and Advertiser's of the Deaf social networking community.

The owners of the web-sites want to make clear more than anything is that this video is not directly against adblock users. This is not trying to tell you to disable it or that you are a bad person for using it. There has just been a lot of controversy with adblock and many other blogs and vlogs making videos about its impact.

The 2 cents about adblock and its impact on sites in an ethical way. Also discuss a bit on how making money on sites works to help people understand all sides of the adblock dilemma since it is a bit deeper than "Disable it so the web-sites can make more money" that the real problem - it punishes people that disable adblock and really creates unnecessary revenue gains.

Overall ads are how you make money on web-site and adblock impacts that. It's understandable that websites need to make money from non-intrusive ads. People can't survive by working for free. When you view your favorite content providers or favorite websites, please turn off your adblockers, simply as that.

This is really a big deal and needs to have something done soon! Please help raise awareness, give the video a like, comment, do whatever you need to do to spread the word, and as always.
