The controversy covers on what transpired on Facebook's DWKFV (Deaf World Kiss Fist Vlogs) between Gabe Gardea & Diva DaWayneOlds. Gabe called Diva a faggot, Diva responded sarcastically that he'd rape Gabe's daughter. Gabe and others tried to make a mountain out of a molehill.



Truth be told, both are stupid. Gabe was wrong to call him a faggot, Diva was wrong to make fun of rape. And it is disturbing that people ignored Gabe's actions and went after Diva instead. The worst offender of the whole thing is: Scotty Jackson. he tried to fan the hatred of LGBT by going after Diva & me. I repeatedly told them that both are wrong. And it is no big deal.

However, seeing their (many Deaf people) reactions as a parent is quite disturbing. Their behaviors as parents of their kids has ultimately convinced me not to rear a child. Their behavior has reinforced my belief that if anyone wants to have a child, they need to get some kind of license! Source

Coincidentally riding together on the Gallaudet bus over to the Union Station, and apparently so, one curious enough to entice a conversation with me.



Mike sat besides me from my aisle as we rode along without any passengers around. A new face, I thought as I really didn't care much about this person. With one's hair slicked back, a black t-shirt worn with tan cargo shorts, and some grey running shoes on. Waving to get my attention, one asked with a jittery composure, "what's your name?" signing with his mouth open, revealing his pearly white teeth, "do you work out?" as I was already unable to respond to his first inquiry... 'I AM' - Michael Hubbs.

"Clyde..." I responded... although a bit more eagerly, I then added, "yeah... I do work out, it's all that I ever do." Meh, meh, meh... as a Deafie would gesture with one's lips, acknowledging with intrigue, Mike then asked, "how much do you bench?" "Do you squat?" Again... asking several questions without the proper knowledge of how to actually converse with somebody. I nodded along, "315 lbs... I squat okay, 315 lbs as well." Shaking his head, "that's bad!" he, already, went onto criticize me, as we were passing by New York Ave, onwards Union Station.



Naturally being distracted, I peered out the bus window to see who may have been waiting outside for the bus once only to find that there was nobody else around, before redirecting my attention t'wards Mr. Hubbs, "So hey... where are you going?" he asked. "Pentagon City Mall," I said, "to buy myself some protein and to bullshit around I guess." Meh, meh, meh, Mike did again with his stupid lips, still staring at me with those eyes jolted of such energy that's often found unmatched with most people that I've met. "Mind if I join you? I'm just metro-ing around to get some idea of Washington D.C. before I decide that I enroll myself in Gallaudet University." ... Michael Hubbs is a speed skater with his sights set on competing in the 2014 Winter Olympics. After overcoming the challenge of being Deaf, he is determined to not let any obstacle get in the way of acheiving his goal.

Selling every item he owned, including his car, Michael paid for a one-way flight to Salt Lake City, UT, so he could train at the Olympic Oval.



In August 2011, Michael participated in the Desert Classic competition at the Utah Olympic Oval with the goal of setting personal best times. In the 500m, he shaved five seconds off his personal best time, and in the 1500m, he shaved 13 seconds off. He then won the overall bronze at the Eastern States Championship in September, and first place in the 500m at the American Cup that following month. He is grateful to the sport for changing his perspectives and helping him do something meaningful with his life.

Gallaudet University Student Drug Bust

The Washington Post - Police have arrested and charged a Gallaudet University student with intending to distribute drugs after authorities said they found two pounds of marijuana some baked into fudge and cookies in her dorm room on the Northeast Washington campus.



A D.C. Superior Court judge on Monday released Molly E. Sachs to a drug treatment center and ordered her to appear for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 31, according to online court records.



Sachs is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, a felony.

A university spokeswoman confirmed that Sachs is a student and said the school is cooperating with authorities. Statistics show that in 2011, the latest available, three students at the school for the Deaf were arrested on drug charges in dorms, and 147 were referred to campus judicial review for drug-related issues.



The school has about 1,100 undergraduates. D.C. police say in court documents that a school security officer had been notified by a resident assistant about a strong odor of marijuana from a dorm room... ABC7 - A local college student from Gallaudet University is in big trouble Monday after police say she was busted with a huge stash of drugs that she intended to distribute it to others.



According to 31-year-old Molly Sachs' online resume, she is a senior at Gallaudet University with plans of graduating in May. She’s in a sorority and loves to do volunteer work. D.C. police say Sunday night they arrested her after a sizeable amount of marijuana, pills and cash were found in her dorm room.

Two people are confirmed dead after a raging inferno destroyed a Falls Church home Wednesday.

Capt. William Moreland, a spokesman with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, said firefighters were called to the home in the 3100 block of Manor Rd. The entire single-level ranch-style home was completely engulfed when crews arrived.



Moreland said they will release the identities of the victims once family has been notified.



Steve Klass, who lives next door to the destroyed home, said he was awakened by a loud roaring sound at about 3:30 a.m. He said a woman who lived at the home, who was Deaf, could be heard screaming... Out of the entire world, within the walls of Gallaudet University Deaf Space. Profound Audism occurred. SimComm destroys both ASL and English. Audism also destroys respect for Deaf people and their Deaf World especially at Gallaudet University.



I experienced profound Audism in Gallaudet University out of all places in the world. A place where the environment is safe for all Deaf people. This intrusion of SimComm and voicing is very irritating. I was not even angry at all at first. I wanted to give positive exposure to the fact it's not a good manner and that it is very disrespectful to Deaf people in general when hearing people SimComm, talking with the voice, using cell phones, etc.

I was hoping for dialogue and discussion to bring better understanding, respect and knowledge, but instead, this hearing student who claim to be a Coda got up and yelled at me with such profound venom, disrespect and hate. Such display of profound oppression has left me shocked and loss of words and thoughts. It even affected my friends at the table.



What hurts me more is that there are other Deaf people there who agreed with me, but sat and did nothing to stand up against Audism. I was even more shocked with the level of apathy. Are we so oppressed and thinking it's so difficult to fight it and we give up and just succumb to it?



I need your help to put an end to Audism from hearing students and put an end to apathy of Deaf people or their lack of courage to stand up for ASL and Deaf World.



My vlog is not an attempt to degrade or belittle other people most especially the hearing group/Coda I was referring about. My point was to bring this up to discussion and to raise awareness of Audism and acknowledgement of Deaf Space at Gallaudet University.



Please remain respectful and civil to each other in hopes we all meet together in harmony and mutual respect. Finally, I truly want to thank those who have shown support and encouragement. Thank you. Shane.

Marlee Matlin Top 5 Youngest Academy Award Winners

VIDEO - Marlee Matlin is the one of top 5 youngest Academy Award winners.



HOLLYWOOD -- Kicking things off at number five, we've got Marlee Matlin, who took home the Best Actress trophy in 1986 for her role as Sarah Norman in Children of a Lesser God. Matlin was just 21 years old when she became not just the youngest winner ever for the category, but also the first Deaf person to take home an Oscar.



Next up, the only guy on our Top Five - Timothy Hutton, who won Best Supporting Actor in 1980 for his role in Robert Redford's Ordinary People. Hutton, now a television star, was only 20 when he took home the gold.



At number three we've got our most legendary performance on the list - Patty Duke's incredible portrayal of Helen Keller in 1962 classic The Miracle Worker. Duke was only 16 years old when she stunned audiences across the country with her heartbreaking performance and won the Best Supporting Actress prize.

Number two on our list is also our most recent award - Anna Paquin's 1993 win for her Supporting role in The Piano. The actress was a mere eleven years old when she took home the Oscar, and has since gone on to star in both blockbuster films like X-Men and art-house classics like Margaret.



And finally, the youngest Academy Award winner of all time is... Tatum O'Neal, who won Best Supporting Actress in 1973 for her role in Paper Moon. O'Neal was just ten years old when she gave her award-winning performance alongside her father, Ryan - that's the age most kids are in the fourth grade! Amazing.
